WAYS TO TAKE ACTION FOR ALLIES & ADOPTEES.

Ways to Get
Involved For Adoptees.

Consider Submitting to the TRC3

In January 2026, the Korean National Assembly passed an amendment that allowed for the 3rd Truth and Reconciliation Commission Investigation for Human Rights Violations in Intercountry adoption to commence. If your paperwork contains holes, contradictions, or lies, or you believe you are a victim of identity falsification, adoption fraud, kidnapping or other human rights violations, please consider submitting to this historic movement.

Be yourself

Hang DNA Test Awareness Posters!

Many Koreans and Korean Americans aren't aware of DNA testing as a tool to find lost family members. Whether you attend a Korean church, frequent a Korean supermarket, or hang out at a Korean cafe, you can help spread awareness of DNA testing in the Korean and Korean American community by hanging these flyers.

America is 60% white. As transracial adoptees living in America, we receive many messages at every age of who and what we are supposed to be. It is not on the shoulders of the adoptee to educate their fellow Americans or represent Korean Adoptees everywhere, however being your most authentic self can be considered equally powerful and a radical act in a society that often demands conformity.

DNA Test

If you are of Korean ancestry, please DNA test with at least one commercial DNA test such as Ancestry or 23andMe. Adoptees have recently found that their paperwork was falsified by their adoption agencies, leaving DNA as their last hope to find genetic family. Adoptees will only be able to uncover their true origins if the database is robust and folks like you are willing to help.

Ensure your child has their Adoption Files

If you are an adoptive parent, please recognize that your child will want their original adoption files given to you by their adoptive agencies, even if not today. For their safety, please make sure they have access to their original Certificate of Naturalization and any documents that prove their citizenship.

Raise your own awareness

Many people know and love someone in their life who is a Korean adoptee, but have little awareness of the issues they face. The burden of educating those around them frequently falls to the adoptee, along with shouldering the experience of being a minority in America. One way to be a better ally, is to raise your awareness of adoptee issues through documentaries, news articles, and books.
